Come one, come all, to an Open House held by the Uinta Center for ARTS located in Kamas. The Uinta Center (UCA) is a wonderful art center dedicated to helping youth and uplifting the community through great art productions, products and instruction.
The heart of UCA is the historic Kamas Theater, which supports first run feature films as well as live theatre. Surrounding the theater are various rooms and venues such as an art gallery, music rooms, which include private practice rooms, editing areas for film classes and smaller performance areas as well as rehearsal space.
The Open House will feature entertainment, refreshments, and lots of questions and answers.
As part of the new 2011-2012 program, UCA will also be home to the Utah High School for the ARTS and REEL School, Summit County’s only film school.
Utah High School for the ARTS (UHSA)
The oldest high school for the arts in Utah, UHSA has been called the cutting edge of education since it opened in 1992; schools that are at least 60% art-based are turning out the highest achievers in the world. And because 53% of Utah’s dropouts are gifted and talented, there is a real need for such a program. UHSA is a private school for students Middle School through High School.
REEL School
REEL School, Summit County’s only film school, is a program that is part of Emerson-Smith College and UHSA. REEL School is a highly progressive hands-on Total Immersion Film Program. Students begin making films immediately and are continuously entering into film festivals, both local and international. Internships with some of the top filmmakers in Utah are also available. REEL School welcomes students 17 years old and up.
